I live with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. My occupational therapist at the Dar es Salaam Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $100. My current equipment is 11 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 4 weeks. With the right equipment I could get to the shops and visit friends. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $100 goes: • First-year servicing plan: $45 • Fitting and training sessions: $40 • Delivery and set-up: $15 If you're reading this, thank you. - Musyoka

  • a colleague of mine might know someone for this in Dar es Salaam. I'll ask around and let you know!

    • Sending strength, Musyoka. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.

      • so sorry you're going through this. Shared it with a few friends. Put this on a community board in Boulogne-Billancourt this morning
