Bakersfield
Mónica lives with a spinal cord injury. The occupational therapist at the Bakersfield Rehabilitation Centre has assessed her and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $7,450. Her current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 12 weeks. With the right equipment Mónica could go to school independently. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $7,450 goes: • stair-climbing aid: $6,750 • Fitting and training sessions: $300 • Delivery and set-up: $140 • First-year servicing plan: $260 Glad we found this place.
