Kampala
I live with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. My occupational therapist at the Kampala Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $700. My current equipment is 12 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 8 weeks. With the right equipment I could get to the shops and visit friends. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $700 goes: • stair-climbing aid: $620 • Fitting and training sessions: $25 • Delivery and set-up: $10 • First-year servicing plan: $45 If you're reading this, thank you.

Updates from Hellen

  1. Thank you all. We're at 18% now ($124). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Small update. $70 so far, I made the first payment toward delivery and set-up.
