I live with an amputation below the knee. My occupational therapist at Oakland General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $4,450. My current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 7 weeks. With the right equipment I could speak with the people around her. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $4,450 goes: • prosthetic leg: $3,700 • Fitting and training sessions: $195 • Delivery and set-up: $150 • First-year servicing plan: $405 Please ask me anything in the questions section.
