Mobility fund: prosthetic leg for Amélie in Paris
Amélie needs a prosthetic leg that the health system won't fund; the cost is $6,400.

I live with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. My occupational therapist at Paris General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $6,400.
My current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment I could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $6,400 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $290
• prosthetic leg: $6,000
• Delivery and set-up: $110
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
