Mobility fund: prosthetic leg for Abdul in Dhaka
Abdul needs a prosthetic leg that the health system won't fund; the cost is $300.
🇧🇩 Dhaka, Bangladesh502 views
I live with profound hearing loss. My occupational therapist at the Dhaka Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $300.
My current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 5 weeks.
With the right equipment I could go to school independently. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $300 goes:
• prosthetic leg: $210
• Fitting and training sessions: $45
• Delivery and set-up: $15
• First-year servicing plan: $30
Thanks for reading all this.
