Kakamega
Winnie lives with a spinal cord injury. The occupational therapist at the Kakamega Rehabilitation Centre has assessed her and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,600. Her current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 4 weeks. With the right equipment Winnie could attend work interviews. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $1,600 goes: • powered wheelchair: $1,450 • Fitting and training sessions: $60 • Delivery and set-up: $35 • First-year servicing plan: $55 With deep gratitude, Odhiambo

  • Wishing you peace, Odhiambo. Hope the doctors have good news. I went through something like this 7 years ago and strangers helped me out.
