I live with a rare neuromuscular condition. My occupational therapist at Tacoma General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $5,900.
My current equipment is 12 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment I could speak with the people around her. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $5,900 goes:
• Delivery and set-up: $150
• powered wheelchair: $5,500
• Fitting and training sessions: $250
