Mobility fund: communication tablet with eye tracking for Julian in Oakland
A communication tablet with eye tracking would give Julian independence - we're $7,600 away.
🇺🇸 California, United States824 views
Julian lives with multiple sclerosis. The occupational therapist at the Oakland Mobility Clinic has assessed him and recommended a communication tablet with eye tracking. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $7,600.
His current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 5 weeks.
With the right equipment Julian could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $7,600 goes:
• First-year servicing plan: $340
• communication tablet with eye tracking: $7,000
• Fitting and training sessions: $260
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

How is Julian doing now?
Thinking of you, Harold. Hope you get there. My husband and I read this together
Sending strength, Harold. Shared this with my family. I'm in nursing myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
So sorry you're going through this, Harold. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Oakland.
