Mobility fund: cochlear implant processor upgrade for Marían in Grand Rapids
A cochlear implant processor upgrade would give Marían independence - we're $3,200 away.

I live with multiple sclerosis. My occupational therapist at the Grand Rapids Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $3,200.
My current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 7 weeks.
With the right equipment I could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $3,200 goes:
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $2,450
• Fitting and training sessions: $280
• Delivery and set-up: $150
• First-year servicing plan: $320
Glad we found this place.

Thinking of you. Get well soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Best of luck, María. This could happen to any of us. All the best.
Thanks for sharing this. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I'll check back for the next update!
