Mobility fund: cochlear implant processor upgrade for Lourdes in Iztapalapa
Lourdes needs a cochlear implant processor upgrade that the health system won't fund; the cost is $1,300.
🇲🇽 Mexico797 views
Lourdes lives with cerebral palsy. The occupational therapist at Iztapalapa General Hospital has assessed her and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,300.
Her current equipment is 13 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 4 weeks.
With the right equipment Lourdes could go to school independently. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $1,300 goes:
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $1,100
• Fitting and training sessions: $75
• Delivery and set-up: $55
• First-year servicing plan: $70
Every share and every dollar helps.
