I live with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. My occupational therapist at the Toronto Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $2,550. My current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 7 weeks. With the right equipment I could speak with the people around her. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $2,550 goes: • cochlear implant processor upgrade: $1,800 • Fitting and training sessions: $340 • Delivery and set-up: $220 • First-year servicing plan: $190 I hope life is good to you. - Gianna
