Mi-sook was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in February. The surgeon at Incheon General Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,600, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $3,450 short. my daughter has been in and out of Incheon General Hospital since February. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,600 is more than we can find. While we wait, Mi-sook struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Mi-sook won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
