Mercedes was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in August. The surgeon at Envigado University Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,200, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,100 short. my wife has been in and out of Envigado University Hospital since August. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,200 is more than we can find. While we wait, Mercedes struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Mercedes won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $1,100 goes: • Physiotherapy sessions: $155 • Post-operative medication: $65 • Travel and lodging for the family: $70 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $810 With deep gratitude, Francisco
