Melanie's kidney cancer treatment fund
Supporting Melanie through kidney cancer: medication, transport to the San Francisco Oncology Institute, and living costs while She can't work.
Anywhere in the world377 views
Melanie was diagnosed with kidney cancer in August. The oncology team at the San Francisco Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks.
Melanie is 28, worked as a nurse until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the San Francisco Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $9,550 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $310
• Transport to the San Francisco Oncology Institute: $970
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $8,270
With deep gratitude,
James

Thanks for sharing this. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I hope November is when things finally get easier. All the best.
