Mei is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an electrical engineering diploma at the Kyoto Institute of Technology, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $2,750.
The registrar has said Mei can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Mei has a 3.9 average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Mei would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Mei isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $2,750 goes:
• Exam and lab fees: $220
• Final term tuition: $1,350
• Outstanding tuition balance: $1,180

Hope this works out for you. Love from Cape Coast.
Thanks for sharing this, Asuka. This could happen to any of us. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Thinking of Kyoto.
