Mega's acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment fund

Mega is facing acute lymphoblastic leukemia and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In August I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. My oncology team at Kediri Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in October. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 47, I worked as a hairdresser until August, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Kediri Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,200 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $620 • Scans and lab work: $200 • Transport to Kediri Cancer Centre: $75 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $80 • Household costs while unable to work: $225 If you're reading this, thank you.

  • Take care, Mega. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 8 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Phoenix.

    • Hope it all works out, Mega. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. My husband and I read this together. God bless.

      • Hang in there, Mega. Shared it with a few friends. God bless

        • Take care. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Greetings from Arusha.
