Maya was diagnosed with colon cancer in September. The oncology team at the Auckland Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Maya is 51, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until September, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Auckland Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
