In August I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. My oncology team at Anaheim University Hospital has planned 10 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in November. I was told to expect about 12 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 26, I worked as a taxi driver until August, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Anaheim University Hospital 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $5,950 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $650 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,650 • Scans and lab work: $1,650 Thank you for reading my story. - Maverick

Updates from Maverick

  1. We're at 15% thanks to 24 of you. I made the first payment toward scans and lab work. More news soon.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 10% now ($576). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the treatment center and confirmed the amounts.

  3. Wanted to say thank you properly. 6% funded and the plan for chemotherapy and medication not covered is now scheduled.
