Mauricio lives with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. The occupational therapist at the Bilbao Rehabilitation Centre has assessed him and recommended a communication tablet with eye tracking. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $2,850.
His current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 5 weeks.
With the right equipment Mauricio could join the school sports day. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $2,850 goes:
• communication tablet with eye tracking: $2,550
• Fitting and training sessions: $90
• Delivery and set-up: $60
• First-year servicing plan: $150
