Mattia lives with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. The occupational therapist at the Milan Rehabilitation Centre has assessed him and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $3,700. His current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 6 weeks. With the right equipment Mattia could get to the shops and visit friends. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $3,700 goes: • Fitting and training sessions: $160 • cochlear implant processor upgrade: $3,400 • Delivery and set-up: $140 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Alberto

  • Thinking of you and your family. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.

    • best of luck, Alberto. Get well soon. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Blessings.
