Masaru's palate reconstruction surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill

A scheduled palate reconstruction surgery in March is out of reach without help covering $6,100 of the cost.

In December I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee. My surgeon at Osaka Community Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for March. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $8,750, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $6,100 short. Doctors at Osaka Community Hospital told me osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. I work as a restaurant cook, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $8,750 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a restaurant cook have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. I'll not be able to lift anything heavy during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $6,100 goes: • Physiotherapy sessions: $540 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $2,100 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $470 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,700 • Post-operative medication: $290 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Masaru
