Nairobi
Mary was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in August. The oncology team at Nairobi University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 10 weeks. Mary is 35, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Nairobi University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $2,150 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $410 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $125 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,450 • Transport to Nairobi University Hospital: $165 Thanks for reading all this.
