Mary can't leave home - help build a ramp

Mary uses a wheelchair and can't leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.

Mary has used a wheelchair since 2025, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Mary can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the local accessibility standard of 1:12 slope, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate ten hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Mary's family will cook lunch for the team. I hope life is good to you.

Take care, Ruth. Wishing Mary a smooth procedure and a full recovery. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Thinking of Mbarara.

    • take care. Looking forward to the next update. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Seoul.

      • Good luck, Ruth. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My neighbor in Onitsha donated after I showed her your page.
