Martijn's a partial thyroidectomy can't wait - please help us cover the bill
After severe cataracts in both eyes, Martijn was cleared for a partial thyroidectomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In July I was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes. My surgeon at Haarlem Community Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $11,250, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $7,900 short.
Doctors at Haarlem Community Hospital told me severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a warehouse packer, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $11,250 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a warehouse packer have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
