Marisol was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in August. The surgeon at La Plata Orthopedic Institute recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,100 short.
my mother has been in and out of La Plata Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Marisol struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Marisol won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
