Marilyn's emergency hernia repair can't wait - please help us cover the bill
Marilyn needs emergency hernia repair at San Diego University Hospital and the family is $1,450 short of the hospital's estimate.

In April I was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc. My surgeon at San Diego University Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and I have been placed on the schedule for August. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $2,900, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $1,450 short.
Doctors at San Diego University Hospital told me a herniated spinal disc will get worse without emergency hernia repair. I work as a seamstress, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $2,900 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a seamstress have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to look after the children alone during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.

Post-operative medication is $240 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. I'll keep the page updated.
