Marie was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in July. The surgeon at Berlin Regional Medical Center recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,850, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $3,650 short.
my mother has been in and out of Berlin Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,850 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Marie struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Marie won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
