Marcelo was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in September. The oncology team at the Rio de Janeiro Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Marcelo is 34, worked as a tailor until September, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Rio de Janeiro Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,000 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $460 • Scans and lab work: $220 • Transport to the Rio de Janeiro Oncology Institute: $320 Every share and every dollar helps.
