Maple Primary School needs a rainwater harvesting system - Luna's neighborhood project
Volunteers in San Diego are raising $800 for a rainwater harvesting system at Maple Primary School.
Anywhere in the world927 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Maple Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $930, and the remaining cost is $800.
It will serve about 191 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $800 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $110
• Tools hire and delivery: $560
• Safety equipment and signage: $130
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Sending love, Luna. Shared it with a few friends. Please keep us posted. Thinking of San Diego.
Hope it all works out. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Love from Surat.
Hang in there, Luna. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
