Manuel lives with a spinal cord injury. The occupational therapist at the Ciudad de México Rehabilitation Centre has assessed him and recommended a pair of hearing aids. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $700.
His current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 10 weeks.
With the right equipment Manuel could speak with the people around him. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $700 goes:
• pair of hearing aids: $530
• Fitting and training sessions: $75
• Delivery and set-up: $25
• First-year servicing plan: $70
