Makati flood relief - the Marketplace settlement
After the flood, families in the Marketplace settlement need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
🇵🇭 Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines1,493 views
The flood hit the Marketplace settlement on 31 August. My home was one of 43 damaged, and 5 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $540
• Clean water and purification supplies: $100
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $125
• Food parcels for displaced families: $155
• Tools and labor for repairs: $180
With deep gratitude,
Manuel

You're not alone, Manuel. Looking forward to the next update. Greetings from Toledo.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Manuel.
Take care, Manuel. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't be hard on yourself for asking
Thinking of you, Manuel. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double!
It takes guts to ask. Well done. Thinking of Makati
