Mai's hip replacement surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill

A scheduled hip replacement surgery in August is out of reach without help covering $4,100 of the cost.

In June I was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections. My surgeon at Sakai Regional Medical Center recommended hip replacement surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for August. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $8,250, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $4,100 short. Doctors at Sakai Regional Medical Center told me gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without hip replacement surgery. I work as a retail assistant, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $8,250 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a retail assistant have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. The recovery period is expected to take about 6 weeks. I'll not be able to stand for more than ten minutes during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $4,100 goes: • Post-operative medication: $180 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,800 • Physiotherapy sessions: $480 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $1,640 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
