Luke's spinal decompression surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill
A scheduled spinal decompression surgery in October is out of reach without help covering $3,500 of the cost.

Luke was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in July. The surgeon at Newport Regional Medical Center recommended spinal decompression surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,650, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $3,500 short.
my brother has been in and out of Newport Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,650 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Luke struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Luke won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $3,500 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,600
• Post-operative medication: $270
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $630
