Lúcia's knee replacement surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill
A scheduled knee replacement surgery in September is out of reach without help covering $1,050 of the cost.

Lúcia was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in June. The surgeon at Niterói University Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,300, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,050 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Niterói University Hospital since June. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,300 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Lúcia struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Lúcia won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
