For five years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,000. It will serve about 393 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $3,000 goes: • Materials: $2,300 • Permits and inspections: $185 • Safety equipment and signage: $175 • Tools hire and delivery: $340 Thanks for being kind about this.

  • Thinking of you, Sharon. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.

Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Put this on a community board in Mardan this morning. All the best!

        • Hope this works out for you. After 18 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

          • So sorry you're going through this. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings.
