Lotus Park needs a free library and reading room - Aaliyah's neighborhood project
A community-led a free library and reading room at Lotus Park that will serve 296 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,400.
It will serve about 296 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,400 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $370
• Materials: $1,600
• Tools hire and delivery: $430
