For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Park, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $170, and the remaining cost is $650. It will serve about 217 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $650 goes: • Materials: $470 • Permits and inspections: $60 • Safety equipment and signage: $50 • Tools hire and delivery: $70 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
