Lotus Creek cleanup and restoration: help our volunteer crew
A neighborhood-led restoration of Lotus Creek needs $400 for saplings and equipment.
🇳🇬 Ikeja, Lagos, NigeriaPosted Sep 9, 20261,158 views
Lotus Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 73 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 103 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $400 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $195
• Tools and protective gear: $90
• Waste removal and skip hire: $75
• Signage and educational materials: $40
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Thanks for sharing this. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like
best of luck, Yewande. Shared it with a few friends. Thinking of Ikeja.
More neighborhoods should do this. My neighbor in Lahore donated after I showed her your page.
