Lillian's valve repair surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill
After a hernia that has become strangulated, Lillian was cleared for valve repair surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In July I was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated. My surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $10,000, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $7,950 short.
Doctors at Saint Matthew Hospital told me a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without valve repair surgery. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $10,000 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. I'll not be able to lift anything heavy during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $7,950 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,450
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $4,000
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $400
• Post-operative medication: $300
• Physiotherapy sessions: $370
• Travel and lodging for the family: $430
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Hang in there, Lillian. Shared it with a few friends. I hope November is when things finally get easier.
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Thinking of Dallas.
I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. God bless.
hope you get there. My neighbor in Dodoma donated after I showed her your page. Love from Dodoma.
take care, Lillian. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I hope November is when things finally get easier
