The fire in the settlement hit the Old Town district on 16 January. My home was one of 13 damaged, and 6 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $700 goes:
• Clean water and purification supplies: $145
• Tools and labor for repairs: $180
• Roofing sheets and timber: $375
Every share and every dollar helps.

is there anything that isn't money that would help Nancy?
Hope things get better soon, Nancy. More neighborhoods should do this. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out. God bless.
Take care. Hope this works out for you. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Likoni!
hope it all works out, Nancy. More neighborhoods should do this. Put this on a community board in Southampton this morning.
