Liam was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in April. The surgeon at Saint Catherine Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,500, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $4,500 short. my son has been in and out of Saint Catherine Hospital since April. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Liam struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Liam won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $4,500 goes: • Post-operative medication: $450 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $460 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,900 • Physiotherapy sessions: $370 • Travel and lodging for the family: $320 Thanks for being kind about this. - Keith
