Let's build a youth football pitch together in Kitakyushu
A community-led a youth football pitch at Harmony Park that will serve 163 neighbors.
🇯🇵 Fukuoka, Japan2,148 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Harmony Park, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $3,000.
It will serve about 163 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Materials: $2,350
• Permits and inspections: $200
• Safety equipment and signage: $125
• Tools hire and delivery: $325
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

more neighborhoods should do this. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
Take care. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Take care.

Thinking of you and your family, Toru. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Thinking of Kitakyushu.
Good luck, Toru. More neighborhoods should do this. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. God bless.
