Let's build a solar-powered water pump together in Shubra
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at the Lotus community hall that will serve 388 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 388 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $340
• Permits and inspections: $50
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
• Tools hire and delivery: $25
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
Updates from Amir
Thank you all. We're at 50% now ($226). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($125 in total) the plan for materials is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Hope things get better soon, Amir. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Sent it to 30 people at work.
