Let's build a solar-powered water pump together in Newcastle
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at the old Harmony bus depot that will serve 262 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Harmony bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $3,650.
It will serve about 262 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,650 goes:
• Materials: $3,150
• Permits and inspections: $150
• Safety equipment and signage: $140
• Tools hire and delivery: $210
If you're reading this, thank you.

any update on how things are going in Newcastle?
Thinking of you, Josiah. Hope this works out for you. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Coyoacán
Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't give up. Greetings from New Delhi.
Sending strength, Josiah. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Saint Petersburg.
