Let's build a solar-powered water pump together in Cairns
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $1,100 for materials.
🇦🇺 Cairns, Queensland, Australia869 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,100.
It will serve about 168 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $200
• Tools hire and delivery: $590
• Safety equipment and signage: $310
Thanks for being kind about this.
