Let's build a solar-powered water pump together in Austin
Volunteers in Austin are raising $2,850 for a solar-powered water pump at the old Unity bus depot.
🇺🇸 Austin, Texas, United States2,801 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,850.
It will serve about 283 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,850 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $390
• Materials: $2,350
• Safety equipment and signage: $110
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Best of luck, Jackson. Gave what I could, wish it was more.
Take care. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't give up. All the best
more neighborhoods should do this. It's not much but it's yours. Blessings!

Sending good thoughts, Jackson. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Wish I lived closer to Newcastle so I could bring a meal. God bless
