Sandton
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Park, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $250, and the remaining cost is $250. It will serve about 279 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $250 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $75 • Tools hire and delivery: $120 • Permits and inspections: $55 Every share and every dollar helps.

Updates from Brett

  1. Update from Sandton: I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. We're at 70% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($146 in total) the plan for tools hire and delivery is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  3. Wanted to say thank you properly. 26% funded and the plan for permits and inspections is now scheduled.

So sorry you're going through this, Brett. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.

Thinking of you and your family. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Sandton.
