For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Park, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $500. It will serve about 240 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $500 goes: • Materials: $370 • Tools hire and delivery: $55 • Permits and inspections: $75 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
