Let's build a repair café workshop together in Southampton
A community-led a repair café workshop at the Cedar health centre yard that will serve 164 neighbors.
🇬🇧 Southampton, England, United Kingdom1,199 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,500.
It will serve about 164 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,500 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $300
• Tools hire and delivery: $300
• Materials: $2,900
Glad we found this place.
